The exhibition forms part of the celebrations marking twenty-five years since the publication of the first book featuring the character "O Menino Triste" — The Sad Boy.

When a child is denied the chance to grow up in his mother's arms, or sees his dreams cut short by something outside his understanding, he risks becoming a sad child.

The Sad Boy is the story of one such child. A boy who, like Peter Pan, had not wanted to grow up — until the day he decided he ought to, and step into the world of grown-ups.

And yet his child's imagination, the private beliefs he had held on to all along, left him unconvinced by that world he had once set out to discover.
