More than three decades of work have confirmed Guy Delisle as one of the major names in comics worldwide. His output is substantial and often autobiographical in voice, running from short, more experimental pieces to longer-form narratives — some drawn from his own life, others from the lives of people around him — as well as work of a journalistic bent and the travel books: Pyongyang, Jerusalem, Burma Chronicles and Shenzhen. It was these last that brought him readers and recognition beyond the more insular world comics usually inhabits, confirming a broad appetite for accounts of this kind, and it is on them that this exhibition focuses.
