Mansoureh Kamari grew up in Iran, under a regime that decides by law who a woman's body belongs to. In this autobiographical graphic novel she revisits a childhood in Tehran shaped by fear and severe restriction, rendered in black, grey and red. Exiled in France since 2011, she builds the book out of life-drawing sessions, where colour returns and accompanies the reclaiming of freedom over one's own body.

Poised between personal memory and collective testimony, the work sets out the brutal facts of Iranian law and takes its place in the spirit of the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement. Acclaimed in France and Belgium, banned in Iran, it is a reminder that telling your own story is itself an act of resistance.
